Expansion
The Kilken Plant has nearly completed the initial phase of the first expansion to the current plant which allows the residence time to increase from 7 – 8 minutes to 9 – 10 minutes.
As part of the initial phase of the first expansion, the Kilken Plant has commissioned an extensive drive for the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence into its plant monitoring and operating systems. This novel technology will be rolled out as part of the next stage of the first expansion.

Major expansion
The Kilken Plant has commissioned a second expansion, being a major expansion to the plant, with the vision of doubling the current PGM production to 83kg’s per month.
After consultation with renowned expert, Martyn Hay, owner and founder of Eurus Mineral Consultants, the suggested expansion will increase the plant capacity from 200 to 1300 cubic meters.
To accommodate the expansion, the electricity supply and infrastructure needs to be upgraded and an additional 4MVA electrical power for the planned expansion is being secured, taking the existing 2MVA to a required 6MVA.
Kilken Plant
The process at the Kilken Plant has been engineered over time such that it is now a simple, yet elegant solution in the recovery of PGM’s and its capacity will be increased by the current expansion plans, taking Kilken and the Kilken Plant from strength to strength putting it as one of the front runners of retreatment plants in the world.
