Contractual relationship with Anglo
COMPLIANCE
AGREEMENT
In terms of Kilken’s agreement with Rustenburg Platinum Mines (A subsidiary of Anglo Platinum Mines):
- 100% of RPM’s tailings are sold exclusively to the Kilken Plant, and the Kilken Plant retreats the tailings.
- The Kilken Plant sells 100% of the concentrate back to RPM.
- It is a life-of-mine agreement.

Process
The process by which the PGMs are recovered is by retreating live tailings received from the Rustenburg Platinum Mines Limited (‘RPM’) at its Amandelbult plant in Limpopo.
Conduct
The Kilken Plant conducts its business with RPM since 2014 under and in terms of a life of mine agreement.
Advantage
The Kilken Plant has an inherent advantage in that the Amandelbult life of mine is in excess of 20 years whilst most of the other PGM retreatment plants have a much shorter life.
Capacity
The Kilken Plant has the capacity and ability to retreat 100% of RPM’s tailings.

Services
The Kilken Plant’s services such as water, electricity and sewerage are obtained directly from RPM.
Kilken and RPM
Simultaneous to the agreement with Anglo, Kilken and RPM entered into a suite of agreements fully setting out their relationship and interconnectedness of their respective operations.
Lease
The Kilken Plant leases its premises from RPM.
